# Data and privacy

What Wishlist stores, how long it keeps it, and what happens when you uninstall the app.

## What the app stores

- **Wishlists:** lists, saved products and variants, and when they were saved.
- **Shoppers:** the Shopify customer ID, or a random ID for guests. For customers, the email address, first name, language and email marketing status, read from Shopify to send alerts.
- **Activity:** saves, removes and adds to cart per product and day, for analytics. Orders are matched to wishlists to count revenue.
- **Alerts:** a log of sent alerts and webhook deliveries.

Guests are identified by a random ID in their browser. The app doesn't store names or email addresses for guests.

## How long data is kept

## Customer data requests

The app handles Shopify's privacy requests automatically:

- **Data request:** when a customer asks for their data in Shopify, the app creates a JSON file with their wishlists and alert history. Download it from **Settings → Data**.
- **Erasure:** when you erase a customer in Shopify, the app deletes their lists, items, invites and alert history, including guest lists merged into their account.

A customer who unsubscribes from wishlist emails stops getting alerts, but their wishlists are kept. See [Unsubscribing](https://wishlist.themivo.com/docs/notifications#unsubscribing).

## Uninstalling

When you uninstall the app:

1. Shopify removes the app embed and blocks from your theme. The customer account pages, the POS tile and your API keys stop working.
2. Your data is kept for about 48 hours. If you reinstall within that time, everything is still there.
3. After that, Shopify asks the app to erase the store's data, and the app deletes every wishlist, setting, export file and API key.

The wishlist page the app created stays in **Online Store → Pages**. Delete it, or remove the wishlist from its content, if you don't need it.
